Based in Columbus, Jeff Smith is one of the country's most acclaimed and influential comic book artist/writers,
best known for the epic graphic novel Bone.
Join Bone-creator Jeff Smith and comic book artist and theorist Scott McCloud for a lively conversation about
 Smith’s career and each artist’s view of the practice and future of comic book art. McCloud is the author of
Understanding Comics, Making Comics, and Reinventing Comics and the creator of the comic Zot!
The exhibition Jeff Smith: Bone and Beyond, on view May 10 through August 3, features original comic book
drawings by the Columbus-based artist and some of the comics artists who have inspired him.
Bone and Beyond and related events are presented in collaboration with Ohio State’s Cartoon Research Library.
Today (Saturday, May 10), the Bone and Beyond exhibition is open from 11 AM until 8 PM. Jeff Smith:
 Before Bone, a related exhibition on view nearby at the Cartoon Research Library, is open from 1 to 5 PM.
(The Cartoon Research Library is not typically open on Saturdays.)

In this informal gallery talk, the curators of Jeff Smith: Bone and Beyond talk about the project’s
evelopment and selected pieces in the exhibition. Lucy Shelton Caswell is professor and curator of
Ohio State's Cartoon Research Library. Dave Filipi is the Wexner Center's curator of film and video.

Best known for his epic and unpredictable comic Strangers in Paradise and a key figure in the self-publishing of comics,
Terry Moore is one of the most influential artist/writers working today.
He’ll discuss past work including Strangers, Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, and Runaways, along with his new book, Echo.

the Columbus-based artist who created the epic comic book serial Bone, and some of the comics artists who have inspired him.

One of the most eclectic talents in comics, Ohio State alumnus Paul Pope works in such diverse genres and
styles as superheros, erotica, and manga.
He’ll offer insightful comments about his own practice and an overview of his remarkable career, which includes
the sci-fi book THB, Heavy Liquid, and Batman: Year 100. The collection Pulphope: The Art of Paul Pope was published in 2007.

Announcing the publication of our first graphic novel: "Terrible Swift"

Tellik Sayn, a space explorer on a routine mission, discovers a Victorian flying machine hovering over a nearly dead planet's surface. Determined to find out the origin of the strange machine and fate of the ones who built it, he uncovers the tragic and violent story of the planet's end.
