11:00 AM Comics Studies at Michigan State University
Join MSU Professor and Coordinator of the Comics Minor, Ryan Claytor, as he outlines the comics resources available at Michigan State University. A monthly podcast, an internationally recognized multi-day annual event, and the largest public collection of comic books in the world are just a few of the many perks. Joining Claytor will be two Comic Art and Graphic Novel Minor students, Lora Root and Chris Mattei, to talk about
their experience in the program, as well as their own work.
12:00 N00N Art & Storytelling in Comic Strip
Matt Feazell, Bruce Rosenberger, and Joseph Morris will talk about the artistic and storytelling challenges of working in smaller, self contained formats such as Newspaper Style strips, single page gag strips, and mini-comics. The 3 panelists have literally decades of experience making small press comics, so regardless, there should be something interesting to come out of this talk.

1:00 PM Realism in Comics
Hosted by Joe Zabel, who is best known for his work on American Splendor, will talk about realism in comics.
2:00 PM Cartoon Crossrads Columbus (CXC)
Jeff Smith and company will talk about the first 5 years of the show and the upcoming virtual event this fall.

3:00 PM Notes from The Latinx Comic Arts Festival
The Latinx Comic Arts Festival (LCAF) is the California Central Valley's celebration of Latinx comic arts creators and friends. The Festival highlights Latinx cartoonists, writers, animators, artists, and educators. Directed by Dr. Theresa Rojas, the physical event is hosted by Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. While this year's March event was canceled due to COVID-19, LCAF launched the first Latinx comic arts virtual event in April, featuring five consecutive panels, a virtual Artists Alley, and a subsequent series titled C2! Creators in Conversation. This panel features highlights from launching the virtual festival, a discussion of ongoing elements, and exciting plans for building the 2021 event.
Panelists: Dr. Theresa Rojas (Festival Director, Professor), J.M. Hunter (Cartoonist, Arts Educator), Barbra Dillon (Editor-in-Chief, Fanbase Press), and Luke Martinez (The Ascendant, Ironclad Press).

4:00 PM 2 Headed Monster Comics 10th Anniversary Panel (Pre-recorded)
Celebrating their 10th SPACE Joel Jackson, James Moore, and Katie Valeska gather for this informal panel about their lives and work in indie comics. Enjoy being a fly on the wall as these three friends chat about your favorite 2HMC books, con adventures, and probably a guest appearance by a pet or child.
